Every Medium Holy

Ned Bustard November 11, 2022

Known for his linocut print illustrations for the Every Moment Holy books, (Rabbit Room Press’s contemporary liturgy project), Ned Bustard is a deep thinker about Christian vocation in the arts. He faithfully pursues his calling as he manages a gallery and publishing house, cultivating a freelance graphic design business, and creating his own art and illustrated books. During our Friday luncheon, Ned will share his art and discuss what it means to be a creative individual who follows a creative God—a question he and 21 other artists tackled in It Was Good: Making Art to the Glory of God, a book he co-edited and published.

In sharing the story of his many pursuits, Ned will help us think more deeply about the artist’s vocation. His views are grounded in a theology that esteems the greater body of Christ, showing that the artist’s calling is one to be pursued in community. Connected with a rich web of people and organizations—including the Rabbit Room, Laity Lodge, The Glen, and the Jubilee Conference—Ned regards interpersonal connections essential to his work. They enrich his methodologies, portfolio, and personal spirituality.

We’re delighted to welcome Ned to Upper House for a public noontime artist talk. If you are a visual artist, writer, musician, or maker of any sort, you will find Ned’s holistic and generous view of calling liberating. We also invite you to attend Ned’s workshop on linocut block printing, Saturday, November 12.
